Social Justice

As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm...

"The inherent worth and dignity of every person.
Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations.
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all."

Grounded in these principals, UUFSA members support, promote, and actively participate in a variety of social and environmental programs. We serve meals to the impoverished, distribute groceries at the local food pantry, stand up for human rights and civil liberties, and advocate for environmental justice.

We invite you to get involved...

Social Justice Activities

Amnesty International
We actively promote and support the human rights and dignity of prisoners of conscience. Protests, vigils, and other coordinated events are held throughout the year.

Dining with Dignity
Our volunteers serve the hungry and homeless in our community by providing up to 100 nutritiously balanced meals on the first Sunday of each month in downtown St. Augustine.

Alternate Gifts International
This is an interdenominational program that provides holiday gift giving options. Donations benefit those in need in other countries.

St. Johns Ecumenical Ministries Food Pantry
UUFSA is one of 12 local congregations that provides volunteers to collect and distribute food to needy individuals and families in St. Johns County.

PictureOur Green Team
We are guided by our 7th principal to have "Respect for the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part."
As such, our Green team volunteers are involved in a wide range of ethical actions and environmental initiatives. They are also responsible for maintaining our Green Sanctuary status and coordinating Earth Day events with other interfaith groups.
